Manifesto
Kaema aims to revolutionize the approach to African luxury through artisanal craftsmanship, culture, and authenticity.
Founded in 2022, Kaema's aesthetic is defined by a perfect blend of Parisian urban style and traditional Ivorian symbols.
The brand's wardrobe consists of sustainable clothing and accessories for women and men, featuring a touch of traditional Ivorian aesthetics and a luxurious approach to upcycling.
Kaema creations embody the desire to highlight Ivorian culture and French craftsmanship through an artisanal and timeless process.
The brand's universe is based on the designer's story, drawing inspiration from her traditions and the strong personalities around her. The designer aims to showcase Ivorian know-how and culture through timeless creations.
HER ORIGINS
Esther Konan was born in Senegal and grew up in Ivory Coast. Her origins, which have a real impact on the brand's identity, are a strong source of inspiration. During her teenage years, she discovered the diversity of the fashion world through her mother's versatile clothing.
It was during a fitting with her mother that she had an epiphany: she wanted to dress women like her mother: a strong woman with a confident and versatile style. Her mother's elegance and sophistication remain her primary inspiration.
HER JOURNEY
After graduating from high school, Esther spent a year studying fashion design and pattern making at the Michèle Yakice fashion school, run by a renowned Ivorian designer.
She then moved to France and completed three years of study at ESMOD (Bordeaux & Paris), where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design with a specialization in knitwear.
Esther K. then pursued a Master's degree in Fashion and Luxury Marketing and Management at LISAA Paris to explore other aspects of fashion.
HER AMBITION
Five years of studies later, armed with a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree, and several experiences in fashion, the designer decided to fulfill her teenage dream by launching her label to dress women like her mother.
Esther K.'s ambition is to revolutionize the approach to African luxury.
END-OF-STOCK FABRICS
To create our collections, we use fabric scraps or end-of-rolls that we source from suppliers throughout France and Europe to create unique collections.
We also re-use vintage or second-hand clothing and jewelry, giving them a new lease on life with Kaema's aesthetic and expertise.
IVORIAN KNOW-HOW
We are committed to promoting Ivorian know-how and improving the economic situation of our partners based in Côte d'Ivoire. That's why we created the "POKOU" line, for which we mainly use fabrics and artisanal beads made by Ivorian artisans.
Aware of our impact on our planet, we are committed to limiting waste in our inventory. With this in mind, all online collections are launched as pre-orders. We only produce what we sell to avoid wasting raw materials, even in the case of deadstock.
We share with you the excitement behind every pre-order when a new collection is launched. The making of a garment takes an average of 2 to 5 hours depending on its complexity; we do it with passion, attention, and meticulousness, and that's what we offer to each of our customers.
We believe that to change our way of consuming, we must learn to appreciate and cherish our clothes. This is how we will gradually improve the fashion industry.
Our goal is to provide the best quality to our customers. Therefore, we design and assemble Kaema collections mainly in France and in Ivory Coast for our jewelry and accessories.
From concept to prototype, the pieces for each of our collections are manufactured in our workshop in Paris or in partner workshops in Île-de-France when pre-orders exceed our production capacities.
We are committed to overseeing the entire production process. It is therefore obvious for us to choose to produce as close as possible to our workshop.
LIMITED EDITIONS
Our collections are limited editions launched each season with a selection of flagship models produced in small quantities depending on fabric availability.
UNIQUE PIECES
Alongside our collections, we create unique pieces for artists as well as individuals. We want to offer our customers clothing in which they feel unique, pieces to cherish and pass on.
BOUTIQUE COLLECTIONS
We create exclusive drops for the concept stores we work with to perfectly adapt to their clientele. These drops are also produced in very limited series.
THE POKOU LINE
The POKOU line aims to promote Ivorian craftsmanship through sophisticated and timeless collections. The silhouettes are contemporary with bold cuts for women and men who seek beauty and well-being.
Our jewelry is made in Ivory Coast by our craftsman Moussa and his apprentices.
He creates prototypes in beeswax before casting bronze into plaster. Each piece is then hand-polished and shaped to achieve the desired result.
He works the material by hand, just as his master craftsman taught him a decade ago. Today, he passes this expertise on to his apprentices.
No sophisticated machines, no artifices; all pieces are carefully handmade, with irregularities that give them their unique character.
In an industry always striving for innovation, perhaps innovation also means returning to our roots.
In 2024, the "Phénomène SS24" collection was awarded the "Made in Paris" label.
True to its values, each piece is made in KAEMA's workshop-boutique in Paris.
Through an upcycling approach, the brand reaffirms its commitment to sustainable fashion.
